My first two didactic years were completed at the main medical school campus in Kansas City Missouri. My last two clinical training years were based at University Community Hospital in Tampa, FL. I was able to surround myself with a plethora of orthopedic surgery learning opportunities which I took full advantage of after completing my daily clinical extern duties. I was introduced to Dr. Phillip G. Speegle at the Tampa General Orthopedic Trauma clinic. He became an important mentor and granted me access to the orthopedic residents and attendings. Dr. Fredrick McClimans also allowed me open door access to his private orthopedic surgery practice.

Activities: I was very fortunate to secure employment at Shriner's Orthopedic Hospital in Tampa, FL. while attending my graduate medical science classes at USF. I worked directly with the children in the child life department for 4 years. My experiences with these amazing children forever changed my life and had a very large impact on my future career as an orthopedic surgeon.

Activities: During my summer, and Christmas breaks I was able to work at Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers, FL. I worked in many different capacities. My first summer break I worked as an orderly on the orthopedic surgery floor. I later worked in the emergency room as an emergency medical technician. These early opportunities offered me valuable insight into the practice of medicine.
